SECOND ◊ CHARACTERS (MAGIC MOBSTER AU)
| A collection of characters, either referenced or featured, who can be found in Ariete's magic mobster AU along with notes of what happened to them and Ariete's feelings on them. One day I'll pretty this all up proper with pictures and everything. Please note that the only others character I play here happen to be Roxy and Jake. The rest are either played by my friends or all of us just using them as NPCs. |
THE DETECTIVE ◊ JANE CROCKER
The rebellious daughter of Contessa Crocker, Jane left her decadent life behind to be a private detective who helps the downtrodden and the poor after a huge fight with her mother. Though her sheltered upbringing has her had clash with a few people during her time due to how naive and dumb she was at times in the face of harsh reality, her genuine desire to help people and to solve a good mystery with the use of her brains and her magic, both sleight of hand and real thanks to her heritage of being a witch, helped her create connections with other people over the course of her tenure in being one of Skaia's best private detective.
Ariete and Jane's relationship is a strange one. At first annoyed by the girl for meddling in affairs that don't concern her, she finds herself holding a soft spot for the bright-eyed thing who refuses to let anything get in her way even if she's a little strange and she gets flustered too easily by pretty smiles and mean insults. Maybe something about Jane makes her remember who she used to be. It could explain why she helped Jane protect her half-brother, John Egbert, from being kidnapped by the Felt's rival gang, the Midnight Crew, and promised to never tell a soul of her secret kin. Basically: Don't start any shit with Jane unless you want the Handmaid on your ass.
THE ADVENTURER ◊ JAKE ENGLISH
The dashing young man, human through and through, who literally crashed into Jane's life, he became Jane's first partner when she was starting out since he found her choice of work exciting. The two were a great team, his brawn and her brain able to help them crack many cases over their time together.
However, all things can't help but crash to the ground when the matters of the heart are involve. He found himself caught up in a messy love triangle between Jane and Dirk which everyone left unhappy thanks to Jane's passive aggressiveness, Jake's thoughtlessness, and Dirk's pushiness. He soon left Skaia after the mess to pursue further adventures but he has been known to swing into the city now and then to help Jane out since he still cares for her a lot and wants her to succeed in her work. Ariete held a poor opinion of Jake due to his goofiness but admired his spunk and the fact he can take a lot of hits and refuse to crack when being interrogated. It makes his nervousness of telling the truth he had no interest in either Jane or Dirk even more puzzling to her but YOLO.
THE SPEAKEASY ◊ROXANNE ROXY LOLANDE
Owner of one of the most popular speakeasy bars in the city, Roxy has all the trappings and appearances of a spoiler, carefree party girl who's more interested in having a good time and a good drink. Ariete knows better than that. Underneath that bubbly demeanour and laid-back attitude is a sharp witted girl who got to where she was today thanks to diligence, hard work, and using a bit of her magic to spice up her alcohol to make it more alluring to her customers.
Lord English has always viewed Roxy's speakeasy as more of an inconvenience than a threat to his establishment. Hence why whenever he feels like she's become too annoying, he sends the Felt Crew to deal with her instead of Ariete herself. Which is good. It means Roxy won't get seriously harmed since most of the members are bumblers are best, incompetent at worst. Usually annoyed by their general uselessness even if she sees them as family, to an extent, she's secretly relieved that Roxy, time and again, has managed to get away from the anger of Lord English since most don't have the sort of luck she seems to have in spades.
THE BODYGUARD ◊ DIRK STRIDER
Friends with Roxy Lalonde since childhood, Dirk has become her bodyguard so she had a barrier of sorts from the the (more) unsavoury aspects of Skaia for her own sake. Being a Cursed has its perk at times. Especially if it means he can use his ability to drain and absorb people's essence and energy upon physical contact with to his utter advantage during a fight.
He got involved in a love triangle with Jake and Jane and, for a bit, looked like he emerged victorious when he and Jake become more involved with each other. Then it blew up in his face because of course it did. As a result Jake left town, leaving Dirk and Jane awkward around each other. He does his best to be professional for her sake and for Roxy's sake since she seems quite fond of the detective. Ariete admires his ability if not question his taste in romance and he's one of the three people to have escaped from her during a fight.
THE MARTYR ◊ ARKINO VANTAS
He was a rising politician who championed the downtrodden and the poor, who vowed to end corruption and usher in an era of. He was charismatic and kind, a bit arrogant but he had the best intentions when he burst into the political scene and swayed the masses with his powerful speeches and his upstanding image. He was a good person and he had to die for it, leaving a shocked city and a shaken underground still reeling in the wake of his very public assassination when he was making rounds during a tour one sunny April day.
For the record -- No. For once Ariete was not involved with this murder. Lord English dismissed the man and though she had a few run-ins with Arkino before he was killed, she surprisingly had enough respect for the man to feel some measure of pity for his fiancée and a young son he left behind. Not enough that she wouldn't kill them if she was asked to do so but… She'll almost feel bad for it,
THE LAW ◊ THEMIS PYROPE
Oh my God fuck this annoying agent for the Skaia's police department. Her insistence to try and put her in the slammer is irritating since this woman always seems to be the one assigned to investigate the crimes Ariete committed. Usually, most agents leave the case if a Felt has done a proper threatening but this one? Oh no. This one is determined to bring down the Felt and, now, the up-and-coming Midnight Crew since she actually thinks she can make a difference.
Something about her attitude, so loud and confident and brash, rubs Ariete the wrong way.It totally isn't jealousy towards Themis no way. Why is she so obsessed with her? Get away.
